Dear Pastor and Church Leaders,
Has your church missed the boat when it comes to stewardship ministry?
If we are truly followers of Jesus, stewardship is at the heart of our ministry. Jesus asked his followers to "give up, ship out, and fish". Jesus encouraged giving; Jesus underlined "give freely". Jesus commissioned his disciples to "go into the world". Jesus instructed his followers to be "fishers of men". Jesus preached stewardship; he counseled the use of time, resources, and ability.
We do not attempt the high seas of stewardship ministry alone.
As Jesus sailed with the fishermen who became his first disciples, Jesus is aboard our steward-ship. Still, we will encounter storms and times when we draw up empty nets. If our ministry is faithful, Jesus promises to calm the water and direct us to the harvest.
The United Church of Christ Illinois Conference Stewardship Team also shares the voyage. On Saturday, April 12, at the Yorkville Congregational UCC, in Yorkville, the Conference will sponsor a Net Results Seminar. This opportunity promises encouraging and practical ideas for exciting and prosperous stewardship ministry in the local church.
Please review the brochure and registration form (See Below) and consider sending several from your church. Registration continues through April 4.
Looking forward to exploring Stewardship Adventures together as followers of Christ. We are assured that Jesus sails with us, and in really tough times, enables us to walk on water.
